Project Overview

Lance Power was selected to supply a reliable standby power solution for a local authority–managed Waste Management and Recycling Centre. The facility plays a vital role in day-to-day waste processing operations and depends on a wide range of electrically powered pumps and specialist equipment to operate safely and efficiently.

To protect the site from power interruptions, the local authority required a robust diesel generator capable of supporting critical infrastructure during mains power failure.

The Challenge

The recycling centre operates multiple pumps and essential systems that cannot tolerate power loss. Any interruption to the electrical supply would have caused immediate operational issues, potential environmental risks, and costly downtime.

  • The client needed a generator solution that could:
  • Deliver long-term reliability with responsive service support
  • Provide dependable backup power at all times
  • Support critical pumps and equipment without interruption

The Solution

Lance Power supplied a 200kVA Perkins-powered diesel generator, chosen for its proven reliability, efficiency, and suitability for demanding waste management environments.

The generator was specified to ensure uninterrupted operation of critical site equipment and provide peace of mind during unexpected power outages. To support ongoing reliability, the system was initially supplied with a 1-year generator service and maintenance contract.

Installation & Commissioning

Our experienced engineering team delivered a seamless installation and commissioning process, ensuring the generator integrated smoothly with the site’s existing electrical systems.

The generator was fully tested and commissioned to guarantee immediate readiness, providing the site with a dependable standby power solution from day one.

Due to the strong performance of the generator and Lance Power’s responsive aftersales support, the local authority later extended the service agreement to a 3-year maintenance contract.

The Result

The installation has delivered reliable standby power for critical pumps and essential site equipment, ensuring the facility remains fully operational during mains power failures. As a result, the site has experienced zero disruption to operations, significantly improving overall resilience and continuity. The long-term performance of the generator, combined with Lance Power’s responsive service support, has also given the local authority continued confidence in both the power system and the ongoing maintenance provision.

Following the success of this project, the local authority is now planning a second Waste Management and Recycling Centre and has engaged Lance Power to assist with the generator specification and supply for the new site.
